Chimney Flue Repair

On a masonry chimney the flue may be clay tile, or it may be an older brick passage with no tile. Heat, a chimney fire, or settling can crack a tile or open a joint. Smoke and carbon monoxide can then leave the passage and enter the attic or a wall. The repair may be a tile replacement, a listed liner, or a rebuild of a short damaged section, depending on what the inspection finds.

A flue full of soot is a cleaning, not a repair. That work is a chimney sweep or, when the buildup is hardened, deep cleaning.
