What is fireplace insert installation?

The masonry fireplace and the flue are inspected first. An insert needs a liner that matches the unit, run through the existing chimney. The surround closes the gap between the insert and the old opening. The old damper is removed or locked open so it cannot shut the new flue.

A brand-new fireplace where there is no opening is fireplace installation. The liner itself is liner installation.
