Chimney Crown Repair

A small crack can be washed and filled. A crown that has crumbled, or that was poured thin and flat, is rebuilt with a proper slope and a gap where the flue passes through so the metal can move. The crown is not the metal cap. Water that misses a cracked crown runs down inside the brick.

The brick just under the crown often shows the damage first, as spalls and open joints. Those may need brick repair or tuckpointing at the same time.
